Richelle is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Summit Christian Academy. She is a Colorado native, has a B.S in Business Finance and is a homeschooling mom to her high schooler. Her homeschool journey began in 2020 during COVID, along with so many others. After taking the leap, she changed from a "I'll never homeschool" homeschool to "I will never go back to public school" mom. The academic and spiritual outcomes were dramatically improved, and she realized that it was unnecessary and unhealthy to send children to school 40 hours a week to overcrowded classrooms led by undervalued educators. So, she built the program she couldn't find in hopes that she could reach more families. She wanted to design a core academic program that would help both veteran homeschoolers and new-to-homeschool families be well-supported and find community locally.
Her leadership philosophy places the highest importance on providing a classical program that places equal importance on high academic outcomes, home discipleship and modeling a love for Jesus. She is committed to providing true classical learning, highly qualified teachers to walk along side us, and a culture of Christian community.
The Statement of Faith is limited to primary Christian doctrine, which is considered central to all Christian denominations, and which sets Christianity apart from other faiths. The corporation is based on traditional Christian and Orthodox beliefs and, therefore, believes it is best for all concerned that employment be open only to those who adhere to traditional Christian and Orthodox beliefs. For our purposes a Christian confesses with his mouth and believes in his heart that Jesus is LORD; He died for her/his sins, and that God raised Jesus from the dead. (Romans 10:8-10.) Our staff will operate a school to closely adhere to the Apostle’s Creed and these following additional statements of faith (collectively the “Statement of Faith”):
1. We believe the Bible alone to be the word of God, the only ultimate and infallible authority for faith and practice.
2. We believe that there is one God (Deut. 6:4), eternally existent in three Persons : Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19; Jn. 1:1). God is omnipotent; that is, He can do all things. God is omnipresent; that is, He is present to all creation and has under His immediate authority all things which are in Heaven, on the earth, and under the earth. God is omniscient; that is, He knows all things. He readily exercises His power which is present everywhere, and to Him there is nothing that is impossible or unknown, that is, He knows what has been from eternity, what now takes place everywhere, and what will be to all eternity.
3. We believe that God immutably creates each person to reflect his image as male and female and that God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good (Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:31, Deuteronomy 6:4, John 10:30). Maleness and Femaleness are biologically determined at conception and are not subject to change. We believe that marriage was instituted by God, is the life-long covenant between one man and one woman, and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage are sin (Mark 10:6-9).
4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ who has existed uniquely and co-eternally with the Father, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory (Matthew 1:18, John 1:29, Acts 2:22, Romans 3:24-25, Romans 8:34, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 1:20, 1 Peter 1:3, 1 Peter 1:19-20, Revelation 1:5-7).
5. We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary. (John 3:3-8). We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone and not by works (of any kind) that no one may boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). We believe that faith without works is dead. (James 2:17, Eph. 2:10)
6. We believe that believers in Christ are sanctified and set apart for holiness at the moment of salvation (1 Cor. 6:11, 2 Cor. 5:17), and that believers are continually sanctified through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit (Phil. 1:6) and through the Word of God (Jn. 17:17).
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Rom. 12:6-8), given to every believer for the building up of the Church. Through the Holy Spirit’s indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Galatians 5:16)
8. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved to the resurrection of life, and they that are lost to eternal destruction and separation from God. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 2 Thessalonians 1:9)
9. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (John 17:20-23)
11. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image (Gen. 1:26-27). Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other state or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to protect and value all human life (Psalm 119).
12. We believe that God created every person equally in his own image. As divine image bearers, all people have inestimable value and dignity before God and deserve honor, respect, and protection (Genesis 1:26-27). Though people often can be distinguished by different nationalities or ethnicities, they are ontological equals before God in both creation and redemption (Acts 10:34). We believe all sinful actions and their results (including the evils perpetrated between and upon ethnic groups by others) are to be confessed as sinful, repented of, and repudiated.
The above are the foundational beliefs upon which the Academy is based. They are the key elements of Christianity and will be unapologetically taught in various ways through all grade levels. All Directors, Board Members and Academy staff subscribe to these foundational principles. This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible word of God, speaks with final authority, concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of all mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For the purpose of Academy doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Board of Directors is the Academy’s final interpretative authority on the Bible’s meaning and application (2 Timothy 3:16).
